Z Special Unit Operation Coin Set
This enamel coin set displays the striking Z Special Unit Insignia on the front; and on the rear of each of the three coins is the names of the operations Jaywick, Rimau and Copper.
Operation Jaywick (1943):
A Z Special Unit team disguised as fishermen travelled aboard the captured vessel Krait and paddled into Singapore Harbour by night, successfully sinking and damaging multiple ships with limpet mines before returning safely to Australia.
Operation Rimau (1944):
A far more complex follow up to Jaywick, the mission was compromised early, leading to catastrophic failure with most of the 23 man team killed or captured and later executed.
Operation Copper:
A small eight man Z Special Unit team conducted an independent mission off New Guinea, where the operation was compromised and only one man survived.
