“This Artwork commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the formation of the 1st SAS Company in 1957. The five central figures, in contemporary clothing and equipment represent operational milestones in the history of the Unit (Borneo, Vietnam, Counter Terrorism, East Timor and the Middle East). These figures stand together as a wall protecting Australia, with primary colours representing the hard-won sandy beret, the blue ocean, and the Australian flag".
