History
The SASR desert parachute wing cloth patch was locally designed by A Troop 1 SAS Sqn whilst deployed to Kuwait in Feb 1998.
It was the first of many SASR deployments to the Middle East.
Only 30 of the wings were made and each member of the Troop received one. They weren't ever worn on uniform but sewn on para helmet bags.
The insignia is referenced as:
- #314 in the book 'Anzac Elite – The Airborne and Special Forces Insignia of Australia and New Zealand ' and;
- #117 in the book 'Australian Airborne - The History and Insignia of Australian Military Parachuting'
A brilliant collectors piece with a unique story!
