‘If I could bottle ‘essence of Moyle’, I would inoculate every Army recruit with it on Day 1. They’d get courage in abundance, wisdom, shrewdness, toughness leavened by compassion and endless good humour.’

-26th Australian Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (retd), one time Chief of the Australian Defence Force.

Col “Sketchy” Moyle’s memoir, Indebted, is a true account told with sharp wit and the easy humour of an all-round fantastic bloke. Beginning as a young reinforcement in Vietnam – remembered by then-Platoon Commander Peter Cosgrove, who contributes the foreword – Moyle recounts eighteen months on operations between 1969 and 1971, followed by the gruelling SAS selection course and decades of service with both the SAS and Commandos until 2015.

With honesty, warmth, and a soldier’s humour, he reflects on the values forged through hardship, the courage of his late wife Noeleen, and the experiences that made him, in his words, a “half-reasonable soldier.” Veterans and aspiring recruits alike will gain insight into the demands of soldiering and the endurance required to serve with the SAS.

We are honoured to provide signed paperback copies from Sketchy exclusively through NINE SIX FOUR.

ALL proceeds support the SAS Historical Foundation in keeping the legacy of the SAS through the Collection and Gallery on base at Swanbourne.

Good book by a good soldier

I bought Indebted when it was first published. I lent it and never got it back. I've now bought a second copy, for two reasons: (a) I want to read it again (more than once probably) because it's a strong book that gives strength to others, and (b) I've committed to supporting the SASR Historical Foundation. Great products, great cause and great people.
