Ever vigilant, an SAS soldier emerges from the haze of a red smoke grenade. He is wearing clothing and equipment issued to SASR soldiers for Afghanistan, circa 2013. Special Air Service Regiment elements were initially employed in Afghanistan in 2001 - 2002 and redeployed over the period 2005 - 2013, making this the Australian Defence Force's longest operational engagement.
As a special note, the soldier in this painting will track you in his sights regardless of the angle from which you view him.
